Beauty Product Trends For 2011

A cosmetic that eases depression? Nighttime beauty creams that helps you sleep better? It may sound like futuristic science fiction, but the future of beauty products in 2011 is now!

Mintel, a company that tracks consumer behavior, has released their forecast in Beauty product trends for 2011.

They track what consumers are buying so companies can create products we need, when we need them. Mintel works with companies to help them make smart moves that consumers will respond to.

A trend toward Austerity chic, has had women everywhere looking for lower cost replacements for their higher cost cosmetics This has paved the way for mood-enhancing cosmetics. Products that promise to make you look good and feel good at the same time. If the idea of mood enhancing cosmetics has you thinking about the heavy Lavender and Ylang-Ylang fragrances found in many aromatherapy treatments, the company says not to worry, these products will contain ingredients that will actually affect neurotransmitters in the brain.

The company reports that there is a trend toward modern holistic products for example imagine deep moisture beauty cream, that will enhance sleep, or boost immunity.

A trend the company calls Pro-tech-t, and renewal of the need to protect our skin from the sun has created a new range of products that will also protect our skin from the environment. These beauty products will promise protection from the sun and the man made oxidative stress.

We will be introduced to a new vocabulary, to describe the next generation of beauty products. Nu-Natural, Sustainable, and Free-Form. Nu-Natural will be products that are less focused on organic certification, and more focused on results. Free-form and Sustainable will mean the products are natural, but enhanced with some not so natural ingredients to enhance results. Ingredients like peptides, hyaluronic acid, ceramides or collagen.
