Organic Hair Care

organic-hair-careThe average person loses 75 and 100 hairs per day. We have an average of 100,000 hair follicles, and each follicle can only grow about 20 hairs in a persons lifetime. This is why it is so critical to feed your hair with adequate amounts of healthy proteins and essential fatty acids. Style is what gives our hair substance, but in order to achieve ultimate style, those follicles must become healthy first.  Hair is just as important to as our skin, and face care. Our hair says something about who we are, and how we want to be seen, and how we see ourselves. It takes good organic hair care, and smart shopping to achieve hair with shine, spring and softness. Hair abuse comes easy with toxic product use, and overzealous styling causing the hair to become weak, split, broken, lifeless, frizzy, dull, and cause early hair loss. Most people will go to any lengths to attain their desired look. Hair care is a large business, but while many people spend the time to shop and buy the products for their hair, they fail to decode the ingredients label, and then fail to remember following simple at-home organic hair care procedures that will promise and preserve the health and beauty of their strands. Our scalp is the most absorbent part on our bodies, this is why organic hair care products would be a smart choice in your hair care regimen.

Basic Organic Hair Care Regimen

hair_shampooingCleansing Shampoos: Cleaning your hair with shampoo is important, it helps clean the hair and scalp by lifting dirt and excess oils.  Although, in this day and age we overdo hair hygiene by shampooing daily. Daily cleansing is not necessary, (especially if you have hard water). It really depends on the state your hair is in whether you need to shampoo often or not. For instance, if your in the sun allot or using allot of styling products you may find it in your best interest to shampoo more. If your looking to keep healthy shiny hair, shampoo in moderation and restrict your portion of shampoo that you are using when you do. Most shampooing products on the market contain harsh detergents, petroleum-derived silicone's, and preservatives. There are not many organic shampoo's available due to the high cost of pure ingredients and the frequent use of detergents, and making them at home from scratch can be a pretty difficult task as well, luckily you will find a few of the healthiest listed in our beauty product directory! Choose the right shampoo that goes with its current state, put in consideration whether it is oily or dry, or just oily at scalp. Its also important to rotate your organic shampoo, especially if your hair is damaged or colored.

hair_brushingMoisturizing Conditioners: By adding silicone's, plant oils, and waxes we can condition our hair to become more shiny and manageable with easier brushing which prevents the hair from snarling and breaking. Conditioning is especially important for those with permed, colored, curly, thick and coarse conditions. Those with oily, and thin hair should condition carefully, using only a dime-size dab, and something that won't weigh the hair down or leave it flat such as light detanglers, volumizing conditioners, or cream rinses. Don't apply your conditioner to your scalp, it will clog the pores. When shopping for the right conditioner, avoid toxic ingredients such as propylene glycol, cetrimonium chloride, mineral oil, petroleum-derived silicone's, and hydrolyzed animal protein. Unlike shampoo, making natural conditioners at home is very easy. You will find some super recipes in our community if you would like to cut your costs for conditioners. There are three types of conditioners, the ones we rinse after shampooing, treatments and leave-in conditioners. Organic hair conditioners are more beneficial because they more natural, emollient, and gentle.

hair_sprayingStyling: The ingredients of typical styling products on today's market are full of many toxins. Before you prepare to shop for some good organic styling products, you may want to take a break and keep your hair care as simple a pure as possible for awhile. Master the art of proper shampooing and conditioning first and see what the results become of your new healthy locks. Once you do that, you may be amazed at the new found volume you never had. Try some organic treatments that remove old product build up, and you will notice lighter, bouncier hair as well. Maximize your natural growth pattern, and let your hair just be for a while, see what it can do, and work with what you got. Many natural ingredients such as peppermint and jasmine can help you achieve better circulation in the scalp. Organic styling sprays are much harder to find than organic styling gels, and shining oils, but they are some great organic spritz recipes in our community that can help you on your quest to find all natural solutions. If your not into making your own, we have a great selection of various green, organic styling products in our beauty product directory.

5_toxicColoring Hair Facts:  DO NOT USE DYES FROM THE DRUGSTORE! Synthetic toxic hair dyes do affect your health and can put you at very serious risks. Well-known respiratory tract irritants such as hydrogen peroxide, sulfur and ammonia will fill your lungs. Phenylenediamines, and aminophenols, known as aromic amines and pigment-forming chemicals penetrate the skin and enter your bloodstream. When you are applying the color, you are usually applying it to your scalp (trying to get right down to the root), even getting it on your ears, forehead and neck by accident right? Did you know that your scalp is where the blood supply is the richest in your entire body? The blood supply in our head carries the toxic ingredients from hair dye right into our bloodstream and is carried out across the body, compiling the carcinogens in our lymph tissue and dumping them in our bladder.  Its no coincidence that bone marrow cancers, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and bladder cancer have a higher incidence in hair care professional who practice with hair dyes daily for long periods of time. Save yourself the risk, and take a look at our directory and join the community to find organic hair dye solutions for the benefit of better health and safety! I hope you found this advice useful. Fortunately I was born with very thick, and curly hair, but due to the past 10 years of toxic product use, I had created hair that was thinning and I couldn't even proudly call it curly anymore, all that was left was a wave. Over the past 2years of learning the truth about the toxicity in the beauty industry, I have been able to transform the damage and I presently have healthy new growth, shine, and volume that was never there before, or so I thought. ;-)
